Tiny Needle Tuesday: Time to Wind

My floss showed up so it was time do some winding.

I have to admit I was a little taken aback by this bobbin thing. I watched a few videos and then it all made sense.

It took forever to wind it all on but it wasn't a terrible job. I listened to a lot of podcasts.

Ta da......it's a little underwhelming with all the empty spaces but at least now I can see what I have. Hopefully by next Tuesday I'll have some stitching to show off.

  1. I have three boxes like that and they're all full! They keep coming out with new colors so I still rarely have the colors that the project calls for. I finally got more floss yesterday so I can work on the sheep virtues again soon.

  2. I've used that method for my DMC threads for years/decades! It does take time to wind, but once you are done it is all so neat and tidy!

  3. That's my preferred method for keeping floss. I keep one smaller box with the colors I'm using at the time with the project I'm working on and then refile my floss back into the larger organizer when I'm done. I think someone mentioned using floss bags for smaller strands that have been cut and maybe used but I usually just wind them around the bobbin vertically. That way I can see the color number and the smaller strands get used. Bravo! to you for getting this done!!

  4. Nice! I have three boxes of floss on bobbins, and sadly I haven’t stitched with any of it in over six years.

  6. Are you supposed to do that? I just punch holes in an index card and loop stuff through. NOW I FEEL INADEQUATE!

  10. That's how I keep mine. A literal pain in the wrist to set up originally but very easy to maintain and it makes it SO easy to find the color you need. Enjoy!
