First Harvest

Hello from my bug proof shroud! I love this thing. It may be a bit hot but it keeps the bugs away. Except for the one bite I got on of all places my ear (from a mosquito that got in the house) I'm itch free in spite of spending a lot more time outside......

.....doing this. My little bucket garden is still going strong.....

.....as is my cart garden. Look at those cucumbers go.

We had our first harvest of kale and chard last night.

Since I had some aromatics that needed using up it went right into a pot of lentil soup. We ate the whole thing it was that good.

Cukes, kale and chard aren't the only things going on. Look at my baby mater. Squeeeee........

  1. Oh my goodness! Your garden is so inspiring. I had never heard of so many people doing container gardening until this year. You are going to have so many goodies to eat. Now I wish I had planted something here at the lake. I even had a garden plot plowed for me if I had wanted it! Silly me.
    Blessings,

  5. That is truly wonderful!! I'm jealous of your bug shroud - I, too, am bugs' favorite flavor. Really wonderful that your work and innovation are bringing rewards!

  6. I can’t step outside without attracting biting bugs, so your suit would be a great investment. Any bites cause welts that take weeks to disappear. Your garden is a fabulous success!

  7. I'd never heard of a bug shroud, but it would be very helpful in a Wisconsin summer. Mosquitos love it here.
    Your veggies look wonderful!

  9. Oh! Your mater is even getting a bit of color! My mom's biggest thrill in life was being able to pick a ripe tomato before July 4th.
