Tiny Needle Tuesday: Insanity

My regular projects weren't doing it for me this week. I made progress on this one but that's about it. I am finding the border a bit boring as they all are.

So I dug out this old crewel project instead and got another leaf done.

Then for some reason, in the middle of the night, I decided I needed another vintage crewel kit to work on so I bought this one on Ebay.  I liked the idea of all the little squares and learning the different stitches. My autumn leaves are big and boring.

It's still in time out but I did glance at the yarn. It looks a little crispy. That's the problem I am having with the autumn leaves. 50 year old cheap yarn does not age well. I might switch it out for some Palette if it works. Thank you Jeannie for the idea.

Truth be told I need another project like I need a hole in the head. This is my vintage crewel shelf and there are 6-count'em 6 kits waiting to go. Insane. I need some parental control type thing to go on Amazon, Ebay and Etsy after midnight. That's when all the damage is done.

  2. Parental Control - you crack me up! Seeing your crewel projects reminds me of how much I enjoyed doing crewel work back in the day (meaning decades ago). BUT...I don't need one more thing so I'm going to try to forget about it. I do love your Autumn Leaves though...

  3. Too funny! I do like the idea of lots of needlework projects but not the process. You do good work...I really like the leaves!

  4. Lol. The new kit is lovely though!
You could make a rule - you can only buy a new kit when you finish one of the old ones (or two if you really want to clean them out!)

  5. At least you eventually finish your projects and they are pretty when you are done. I find most of my projects are great in my head but never come to fruition. ;)

  6. I have a similar crewel pillow on my sofa that I stitched in 1983. It was fun to stitch.

  7. I love the term "crispy yarn"! Describes exactly what happens over time to some of the kits! I love crewel - I think it was the first type of needlework I learned. Great idea to substitute for the yarn - I'm going to look into that!

  9. Your projects are all beautiful! It seems as though you have enough projects to have something you can work on for whatever you want to create. They will be treasures when completed.

  11. Im sorry Deb, but I'm laughing. I love your stitchwork however. Hows your weather/ you ok with hurricane remnants? We are home from Oklahoma and it is 70 and sunny. BUgs are everywhere. We had a good trip. She's too far away. But when we get into a knit shop together my Charge card liglhts up. I love to buy her yarn

  12. What was the deal with the comment I left before? I sounded like I was on hallucinagens! Ha! It made no sense whatsoever. I was exhausted and kept falling asleep while trying to check blogs so maybe I was typing while I was asleep.
Anyway, I like your leaves kit and I think I should be banned from the computer after 10:00.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
