Night Fever

Months and months ago, I bought a box of material to make a quilt for my grandson-to-be. Since that time Daddio and I have made quilts for lots of other people but never got around to making this one. We were just about to get it started when he had his nasty fall.

Since I was on my own with this one, I put it off. Quilting is much more fun when it is shared. Late one night, out of the blue, I got the bug to get it done and after that I have pretty much worked on it non stop.

It is just a simple disappearing nine patch.

The blocks all went together without a hitch.

The hardest part was deciding how to finish  it off.

Before I knew it, it was all sewn together and ready for batting and backing.

The wavy line machine quilting is going slowly but at least I haven't seen a single pucker. I am not taking any chances. I am using a ton of pins to baste the entire length and moving the pins over as I sew along. Tedious, yes, but much easier than picking out a 54" line of teeny tiny stitches. In place of chit chatting with Daddio as I work, I've been going through my pile of holiday videos. So far I've watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Holiday Inn and White Christmas. I'm thinking that tomorrow I'll finish off the binding with A Christmas Story. I'll be glad when Daddio is recovered from that nasty concussion because quilting is no fun without him.

  3. Dear Elf,
I hope your Daddio is better very soon. Everything is pretty much more fun with company. Love the fabrics you chose.
