Golden

Let's take a walk together today, shall we? I don't want to talk about kitchens or pandemics or even woolly things that need finishing. Yesterday was the kind of day we live for around here and we get so few of them anymore. Let's head down to the bay but let's cut through the woods to the wetlands first.

The air was cool in the shade but warm in the sun. Everything seemed right with the world. There's the bay. See it peeking at us from behind the trees? It's always there waiting when I need it.

The cliffs are starting to show some color. Everything is golden in the late afternoon sunshine.

After a walk on the cold sand we climb a little bridge that separates the shore from the wetlands. It will take us up to the boardwalk.

This is not the boardwalk we walk on in town. This is a lonely, isolated boardwalk that has a view that is so vast it's almost scary. You feel so small but the sound of the waves hitting the rocks below are like a lullaby. I could pitch a tent here and live forever watching the ships come and go.

The walk back was into the sun and it was so low it blinded you but it was warm and it was happy. It was so good to get out of the kitchen and into the world for a while.

Now that we are back from our walk I have to remember to thank SIL for his service. He made it home twice from the scary place in one piece and we are so grateful and proud of his service with the Marines.  I also always want to thank his Mom. I can't imagine how that must have felt.
Happy Veteran's Day!

  4. Thank you so much for the bay photos. Oh, how difficult it is to live in land-locked central USA. We miss the vastness of the ocean. I'm so glad you were able to get outside and enjoy a perfect day.
Thank you to your SIL for his service and to all veterans, including my dear Hubby, brother, brother in law and Dad.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy
