Big Needle Wednesday

The Northern Lights hat is done. I actually finished it before I left for my kitty sitting trip but I forgot about it. I managed to get all those live stitches onto a cable before I blocked it without too much drama. Now I have to figure out what to do with them. My plan was to knit a liner since the yarn is Shetland and rather scratchy. I doubt it I could fit a liner and my big head in the hat so I've got  some thinking to do.

The big man socks are done. You all were right. There was plenty enough for toes with even some leftover. Hallelujah.

The only thing I've worked on since I've been home is a dishcloth. I'm pretty knit out at the moment.

I do have plans for this though. I found a simple but interesting hat pattern and I think I'm going to double strand it with some nice soft Chroma in the New England colorway. I think it will help the texture and brighten up the color. We'll see. It's going to be a big adventure when I work up the mojo to get started. It's hot and humid here again so working with wool isn't as fun as it was when we had the promise of fall upon us. Sigh.

  1. Oh wow! I've loved that Northern Lights hat since you first started showing it. If you really need a lining for it, how about something in a thin fabric rather than a knitted one? The MAN socks are great (I knew you would have enough yarn). And I love the yarn you have paired with the gorgeous hanks your daughter brought you from Maine. FUN!!

  2. Oh, the hat turned out so pretty! You can knit the liner in double strand lace weight yarn with small needles so it won't add much to the fit!
yay for the socks finish! and the new hat looks very promising with the Chroma added for pop!

  3. The Northern Lights hat is absolutely stunning. I'm so glad that you had plenty of yarn for the socks. That would have been frustrating to run out at the toes.
Your new yarn is so pretty. I know it wll be beautiful no matter what you do with it.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  5. Yes, I think lace weight would give you a light and suitable liner for the hat. I haven't knit a single stitch in over a week: it's gloomy today, so I'll settle in a knit a bit.

  6. The hat is gorgeous! I just love those colors! Could you just line the brim since your hair won't feel the scratchiness? Love the socks and the dishcloth. I really must try that pattern. Can't wait to see how the new hat turns out.

  8. Very pretty hat! Great socks, too, and now I think I need to do one of those dishcloths again as it's been awhile. Hope you get some cooler temps!
