Knit Nots

I said I wasn't going to buy any new yarn for those little advent sweaters but look what showed up in the mail.

I have 8 more to go and nothing in my ginormous Palette stash was making me happy. Number 17 is on the needles using a darker red and a lighter gray than I had. That does make me happy.

What doesn't make me happy is this sock. It's a plain vanilla sock that I want to knit using two strands of handspun.

Too big, too small, wrong needles...and so on and so on. The idea was good. The execution was not. I was trying to make another pair of thick Croc socks like the turquoise one that I wear all the time. I pull them over my regular socks to make a waterproof barrier between me and all that wet that this winter has wrought. They work in snow too but I've pretty much forgotten what that is at this point.

AND....this cheapo acrylic has been showing up in dribs and drabs for the past few days. I ordered it from Amazon and all the colors I need are coming on different days. I looked forever for the perfect shade of brown heather and I am more than happy with this one. I'm still waiting for black and white I need because....

...I want a big slouchy Riddari to wear around the house to replace the ratty old raglan that I've been wearing everyday since it got cold. I can wear real wool as outerwear when I go out but I want soft acrylic when I'm laying around in my pajamas-as I do most days anymore. Ain't life grand.

  1. Oh my! Pretty yarns. I'm thinking of Palette for my Planetary sweater - it is so reasonably priced. Riddari is very pretty.

  3. I find myself wearing more acrylic (and *gasp* store bought) sweaters lately. Working from home Im usually in a pair of fleece-lined leggings, and it's nice to throw a big warm sweater over my t-shirt AND be able to throw it in the wash with no muss and fuss.
I should probably make myself a couple, but Old Navy had them so cheap, it was hard to argue
