Masked

Here's The Mister and me celebrating our second jabs in April. The MIster is wearing his one and only mask.

I have no  idea why I only made him one mask when I made myself a bag full but I did and guess what he came home from his golf trip without. I have no idea how you lose your mask but he did so I spent yesterday making him a couple more.

He really liked that tie dye material and lucky for him I had one piece of it left.

I had to really stop and think about how to make them. It's been a long time. It's hard to believe we still even need them but things are getting scary again. Our numbers were great. Now not so much.

I had stopped doing the daily numbers back in May when there were no cases to be found for weeks. Now I am back to it since we had 24 new cases in the surrounding area in just 2 weeks. The personal trainer that works with Daughter at the rink just sent out an email saying that his brother who is fully vaxed is very ill with Delta. He's requiring Covid tests for anyone using his gym and everyone he sees at other locations like the rink must mask up again inside or out. My sister has a friend that just did a 7 day stay in the hospital thanks to you know what.

Sitting in front of the sewing machine wasn't a terrible way to spend a hot and muggy afternoon even though I hate fiddling with trying to get the pleats even. As usual I was over thinking it all. I know now what these masks look like after a few washings and no one is going to care if the pleats are uneven as long as it stays on your face.

In less than an hour The Mister had his beloved tie dye mask replaced and another one for just in case. I probably should make him a few more if I can find some decent manly material. Who knows how much longer this nightmare will last. Who'd have thought that we'd still be here now. Not me.

  2. Your masks are perfect. I didn't think we wou1d be here either . I am so so gratefu1 that my fami1y is vaccinated. Zach just got his first a week or so ago in Mexico. I fee1 for those nurses, docs, hospita1 persone11. Not again. There's on1y so much death one can bear. We are about 1ife as a species. I'm gratefu1 we got to Mexico and back before the variant. Gratefu1 we got to see A1 and WI11 over the fourth. No crowds for us. I may even ask our friends, no I wi11 ask them to reconsider our 1unch tomorrow. We need an outdoor venue for me to be ok with it .

  3. Steve and I are back to wearing masks when we go out.

I seriously wonder if this will ever go away or will we just be fighting different variants over and over.

Numbers here are going up too. Guess it is going to be another long and boring winter.

  4. Is't it so depressing that our country is going backwards with Covid? Like Dee and Steve, we are going back to wearing masks when we go out. If only the nation could come together over this one issue!

  6. Too true. I know way too many who are fully vaccinated and getting this Delta variant-we need to hang on tightly for another round....
(I like your replacement for the elastic-kinder for the ears!)

  7. We are also back to masking again. It is so frustrating when the vaccines are widely available. I made a few masks and eventually bought some cloth masks. I found the pleats and elastic so fiddly.

  8. our numbers are rising again too - we have decent vaccination numbers considering they only started ramping up vaccinations here in late June, but there's enough anti-vaccers that the variant is taking hold and threatening to undo all our work. It's frustrating.

  9. Positive cases are increasing daily, AND the university students will be returning for Fall semester soon. I wish UW would require vaccinations for students and staff but they aren’t. Ultimately, it’s the community that will be impacted.

  10. Florida is ringing in a ton of new cases everyday. yet our Governor just wrote and executive order stating there can not be any mask mandate for schools, what an idiot!
