Aux Champs-Elysées.

Toddy da.....I did it. I finished what I started out to do and then some.

I didn't expect much from this year's Tour because I was expecting to have to get to work on the kitchen but since that didn't happen I had plenty of time to get things done. The chain plying disaster with the pretty Humbug Merino sorted itself out. I couldn't save it in one piece but having it in two pieces is better than trashing it which was my first instinct.

The hateful two ply BFL/Silk in the Secret Garden colorway is also done after being worked on for three Tours. Doing part of it on the wheel didn't seem to affect the outcome. It's actually very pretty now that it is finished.

The big surprise finish was this chain plied Polwarth in the Just Figs colorway. It's the one I have been spinning on a drop spindle since 2013. It's really soft and squishy and the colors are just gorgeous.  I'm in love.

I was nervous about chain plying it after the earlier disaster but I replaced the string with a new band on the Ladybug and it made a world of difference. I also took my time and checked the balance often.

I also finished my latest Thermal Mitts in that Polwarth/Silk blend that I finished spinning right before the Tour started.

Of course there are things that aren't done but there is always next year....and the year after that and the year after that-I hope.
Vive le Tour!

  1. Beautiful!! Congratulations on great finishes.

  2. Congrats, knew you could do it.
You've inspired me to get behind the wheel on my next set of days off.

  3. I always like pictures of finished product to see how they turn out compared to the yarn and also the spun product . I am always wondering what they will turn out to look like and what you decide to do with each.

  4. I think you did a fabulous job with all the beautiful yarn you have made. Now onto the Olympics.

  5. You really excelled this year!! Love the yarns--especially the Figs one--vibrant!

    1. I don't know if my comment went through. Love the garden yarn. Good job Deb!!! Now, will I make something special during Olympics? Gosh I don't know how they are going to keep every athlete safe.

  6. Nice finishes! I love the colors, too. Those mitts are very pretty; you'll enjoy them come winter!

  7. Your hand spun is gorgeous. I don’t think I could choose a favorite.

  8. You made progress and have some real pretty yarn!

  9. I thought I commented last night but was half asleep so maybe not! All of this yarn is so beautiful. You DO get a LOT done.
