Boris

Look who's back. Boris the turkey vulture was most likely down south for the winter but he/she found his way back here a few weeks ago.

He shows up every morning for a bowl of left over kitty food. I don't know about your cats but mine just lick the juice off their wet food and leave all the chunks behind. Six cats leave a lot of waste. They never finish anything not even their pate.  Boris happily eats the leftovers and then goes off to do his birdy thing sometimes coming back for the dinner leftovers. I swear this guy must have been raised and released by a wildlife rescue. He's got no fear of humans or other animals and sometimes just hangs around for the company.

  1. You know, I think he's so ugly that he's cute! How cool that you have your very own vulture as almost a "pet". And it's a good way to use up those scraps.

  2. Our cats leave the same residue in their dishes-drives me crazy! I think Boris and you have a good deal going!

  3. Love your story and pix of Boris. However, I think Boris may actually be a black vulture not a turkey vulture. Maybe it is the light in your pictures, but his head looks black, not red to me. Immature turkey vultures have black heads but if Boris has been around for a while, he sounds like an adult. I love that he seems to like the company and hanging out (and of course, the treats he gets!!)

    1. You are so right. I just looked him up and he/she is a black vulture. It has the pretty white pattern under its wings. They are sure ugly on the ground but they are beautiful in flight. I love the sound of it walking around on the roof. Pup sure doesn't though.

  4. He is BIG!!! I kind of like him though. Tyg does the same thing with his wet food...but I've found that if I then mix in some water he will eat more! I tell him I'm making gravey for him - LOL

  5. Awe, I 1ove him. I hope that he stays heathy ...and you have so much to do with his success now. My cats most1y, wi11 1ick up the gravy as we11. I sometimes put the !eftovers out for whoever in the woods. Sometimes I think it is a raccoon that comes. But sometimes I see another cat around and that upsets Beat1es. Your kitty seems enamored with Vu1ture!

  6. That is awesome! Mom and I had a BIG bird (I'm not sure if it was a Golden Eagle or a juvenile Bald Eagle) fly down in front of my truck yesterday to get a bit of road kill. It was amazing!
