Snippy

I did it. I steeked Tracery.

Since I was stuck in the house with nothing to do I thought it was time.

It was easy peasy pie. I actually really enjoyed it. I used the running stitch up and the back stitch down method I found on a Knit Picks You Tube video. I used the crochet method on my Palette Cardi but I found those edges too bulky for fingering weight yarn.

The arm holes gave me pause. I wondered why I had slipped all those stitched on a holder.

Oh, yeah. That's why. That's why I don't design. I can't wrap my head around three dimensional knitting.

It's gorgeous and I couldn't be happier but.......it's too small.  I knew it. I've been working on it for 6 years now and in those 6 years I've gotten quite a bit wider as Dumpy Debbie my dress form shows. Oh, well. Maybe after I get the bands on it I can just wear it open as a shoulder warmer?

  1. That is gorgeous Debra. I just can't get my brain around steeking and don't think I would ever be brave enough to try. I do think it will make a lovely vest. After all of that work, you HAVE to wear it. That stitching is amazing. Go you!

  2. That is gorgeous! I've never steeked anything...not sure I would have the nerve (or a steady hand!!). I hope you do wear it as a vest. Too gorgeous not to wear.

  5. Wow, it’s beautiful. I don’t knit garments for myself because my weight fluctuates so much.

  6. I've never had the nerve to steek anything beyond a sample swatch knit during class time. I'm so sorry your's doesn't fit the way you want but it will still make a gorgeous vest or cardigan. Does it have sleeves??
    Stay well,

  8. That is absolutely beautiful! I hope you will wear it as a vest. It's too pretty not to enjoy. I am not a knitter and don't understand the process you explained but it look terrifying to me. Yah you for successfully executing the procedure.

  9. I have loved that pattern ever since I saw it on your blog awhile back. Brave you for steeking! I'm not sure I could ever do that. I think it looks fine open right now, and I'll bet even better when you do the bands.
