The Trouble With Stitching

I have so many projects to finish but I'm not getting anywhere fast. A few days ago I stitched the skeleton of a vine and yesterday I hoped to get the flowers on it. Didn't happen.

By the time I find the colors I need I've run out of stitching time.

I've even put similar flower colors together and labeled the bag with the symbol so I don't have to spend so much time searching. There has got to be a better way of organizing. I hate the sloppiness of it.

This is as far as I got. Not even one flower finished before it was time to go deal with dinner. Of course, I should mention that I had to rip that blankety blank flower out once. It seems I can't count any better in cross stitch than I can in knitting these days.

  1. I think your project is beautiful. I'm hoping to get back to my sheep virtues sometime this week. I had to set it aside for Dennis' sweater and Pammy's blanket. Those are both done now so I can get back into my normal routine. I hope. :-)

  2. Best thing to do: use hole punch and place hole in bag. Arrange in order of number and hold together with binder ring. Cheryl aka seajaes

  3. I do love vines in cross stitch. So pretty. I just keep all the colors for one project in that project bag.

  4. As Cheryl suggested, a binder ring will control the chaos.

  5. Cross stitch is always much slower than I expect it to be. It feels like you should just whip through those stitches, but they take time.

  6. Your stitching thus far is beautiful! I have never been able to work on multiple projects. It works better for me to complete one, put everything back in place and move on to the next. I just put a quilt aside (finished all blocks first) and am going to make scrunchies for my daughter. I made dozens of those back in the 80s/90s. Mindless sewing.

  7. I use the cardboard cards, wind the floss around them and label with the number. Then I use craft organizer boxes and label each box with the project name. Maybe a little obsessive but it works for me. My brain has been less than organized lately so anything I can do to avoid more confusion is worth the time for me!

  8. I used the cardboard to wind them on and I have three special holder (Boxes) full of colors...organized by number:) ANd I don't Cross Stitch anymore!

  9. You remind me once again that I need to get out my unfinished X-stitch projects! I've been doing lots of ripping lately also. Sigh!

  10. It does make a lot of difference to be organized but it does take time to do it. Unfortunately, it can use up actual crafting time! Hear, hear on the 'can't count' disability--we should start a club!

  11. I use the cardboard square things and plastic boxes made to file them. I file them by number and have .... yikes! I have five boxes full of floss plus 2 smaller ones for "current" projects... and I haven't cross stitched in years.
