Distracted

Mosi might have to go in time out. It was my feel good knit but right now my brain doesn't seem to want to feel good. I am in peak worry mode.

Mosi took the brunt of it yesterday when my row of zig zags turned in to diamonds mid-stream. Argh....that's going to be a lot of painful tinking and I don't think I'm up to it right now.

The purple Mosi hat didn't fair much better. I had to tink back several rows to fix a boo boo in it too but a tink back of 120 stitches a row and a tink back of 400 plus stitches a row are two different things.

What's keeping me distracted is my ever shrinking pile of supplies. I was so smug three weeks ago that I had beat the crowds and did a stock up.  The problem is that with my kitchen cabinets all laying in a heap in the back yard I had nothing to fall back on so it looks alarmingly inadequate.

Sad isn't it? I am kicking myself all day long that I didn't think to get flour and shortening and canned beans and so many other things. Don't get me started on laundry soap or kitty litter. Back when I was in peak hoarding mode I could have even gotten toilet paper and paper towels-but I didn't.

I did for some reason buy lots of big boxes of instant oatmeal which I hate. I suppose it makes a good lunch when you are running low on bread or pretty much everything else you need to make a sandwich. I know we won't starve-I've got several weeks worth of boxed mac and cheese and ramen but it's not going to be fun. I guess it's not supposed to be.

  1. Ohhhhh. I Keep telling Fireman there was areas I was reading survival and search and rescue books this year. We are not on our last candy bar with no clothing and in the middle of a densely forested Boundary Waters.
It is hard , but maybe shut off the TV and news for a bit if you can. Watch old reruns of that 70s show. THat's what Im doing.........

    1. I'm doing the same thing! The 70's Show and The Gilmore Girls are keeping me sane. I'm also watching The Dick Van Dyke Show and The Mary Tyler Moore Show on You Tube.

  2. Sorry to hear about the knitting frogs. I'm sure it is not fun with color work.

  3. I'm the same way both with the crafting and the supplies. I can't seem to concentrate on knitting, crochet or cross stitch. I pick it up, put it down without accomplishing much.
We have food, but I worry it won't be enough. I have to STOP. I'm making myself crazy with anxiety about my kids and I can't change a thing about any of it by worrying.
I'll pray for you Debbie. We'll all get through this together.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  4. Come on ladies, GIVE YOURSELVES A BREAK you are doing just great. Pick up or cast on a mindless yarn project, a quick one for instant gratification. Small squares anyone?! And supplies, we've all got this. I forbid anyone to let a microscopic invisible bug get to us. We are strong and WILL be fine! Jane

  5. I was thinking that I was alone in not being able to concentrate on anything. Yesterday was a family birthday (grandchildren) which I know we'll celebrate as soon as possible but it's still bittersweet to miss on the day. I hope all goes well today for everyone -

  6. I didn’t think of replacing my old digital thermometer until it was too late. Thankfully, the pharmacy put my name on a list and when their shipment came in, they called.

  7. Sorry about the tinking and the supply dwindling. It is scary times for sure. I'm actually going to run out for a few more supplies today.

  8. I'm so sorry about all the tinking in your future. As for food, we have lots, but it's all weird, mismatched things. Jars of spaghetti sauce but no pasta, 4 packages of hotdogs (why???) but no buns. We'll eat, it will just be weirdly and we've made a plan for when we run out of toilet paper. As long as we don't run out of coffee, we'll live. I am out of chocolate so life isn't going to be fun for the family but I have coffee. I'm okay.

  9. My daughter called this morning to ask if I needed anything in the event we are told to "shelter in place". (I hate all these new terms I am learning.) I won't starve but there may be some interesting meals. Hope your knitting goes smoothly after the two stumbles.

  10. I have been crocheting easier to frog...my socks are just waiting. My concentration is messed up to. WE are well stocked for groceries at least for about two weeks...I did a huge shopping when the virus first hit the USA...thankfully we have lots to fall back on. Lots of food in the deep freeze:)
Stay strong! I understand it is easy to be discouraged.

  11. I can't knit to save my life right now. And crochet, what is that? I have heard that if you get to Target when it opens that have paper products, and the grocery store opens early for any one over 60 to shop for an hour before the crowds. I think I am sending my husband tomorrow.
