Yesterday things were finally starting to feel like normal around here again. I got up early and got two whole rows on the sweater while the house was still quiet. I try to get two in the morning with my iced coffee and two at night with whatever I am watching. Yesterday it was the new Dr. Who. Loved her. I am a big Dr. Who fan and wasn't sure about a lady Who but it was perfect. Perfect.
The whole time I am knitting away at this very enjoyable knit a little voice in my head keeps telling me that I don't have enough yarn. I usually buy a ball for each sleeve and two balls each for the front and back when I buy this sort of yarn and in the past it's worked out just fine. But-that was for the pre-retirement me and I think in many ways I have become so much more well-rounded since I quit working. Ahem.
I only have two balls left and so much more to go. I do have about a quarter of a ball left on each sleeve.
I can get about 5 inches from a ball and that's before I join the sleeves which is going to eat it up even faster until I get to the yoke decreases. Sigh. This is going to one epic yarn chicken battle that I will probably lose. If I do, I am resigned to ripping it all back and restarting with another yarn. That's going to feel terrible but it serves me right for not checking the yardage before I got started.

Hmmmm, I think I would put out a APB on the yarn on Etsy and Ravelry before I would rip out! Even a slight variation of yarn would be ok!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful color yarn Debra. Can you not get more of it? I hate playing yarn chicken. It seems like you put so much work into something and then at the last minute have to rip it all out. Blessings, Betsy
ReplyDeleteYarn chicken is stressful, but I think you're up for the challenge.
ReplyDeleteI love the yarn color! Everyone teases me because I am notorious for ripping out my knitting (for a variety of silly reasons). I really hope you do have enough because the sweater looks lovely so far.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I'm no longer stashng. Yarn that I bought sufficient quantities for no longer are sufficient. Hmmm. Since I'm working mainly from stash these days, it's challenging to say the least. Good luck with the chicken!
ReplyDeleteWell, I sure hope you win the chicken battle!!! I cannot even imagine ripping out all those beautiful stitches. Worst case scenario, couldn't you find additional yarn on-line? Good luck!!!
ReplyDeleteHmm... you may be ok. Mom always told me that you need 1/3 of your yarn for your back, 1/3 for the front, and 1/3 for your sleeves, and it seems to work out that way for me, so don't lose hope just yet!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is a big Dr. Who fan (I even made her the scarf one year - uffda!). I'll have to let her know about your review of the new lady Who.
