Farmer's Market

It's hard to believe that just a few steps from this.....

....is this.

I hadn't been out of the house in days so The Mister and I thought we would check out the local Farmer's Market for a little while on Friday night.

They can't sell until exactly 6:00 so we took a stroll on the pier while we waited.

The Mister's been keeping an eye on the Ospreys that hatched a few months ago. They are not babies anymore. They'll be flying away for good soon.

When the market did finally open we didn't know where to start.

Fruits and veggies everywhere.

It's apparently been a good year for the farmers.

This is one my favorite vendors. Their baked goods are out of this world.

They also sell giant bouquets for $7. They sell out fast.

The Mister had to get a craft beer and a sausage. Pup and I waited in the shade.

The Mister really comes to chat with the owners of the vintage cars that line the boardwalk. I'm not a huge fan but I did love this old firetruck.

Ah, ha....now that's what I'm talking about. I spent a long time feeling yarn and bending the ear of the poor vendor.  I did buy a skein of her sock yarn but I forgot to get a photo of it. No matter. I'm sure you'll be hearing a lot about it in the days to come. I've almost got another pair finished so I'll be casting on with it soon. Well, maybe after the Tour.

  1. I love farmers markets. Yours looks like a wonderful one. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a farmers market that had yarn! How fun is that?
When Mandy lived in Edgewater she used to go down to the Chesapeake Bay a few blocks from their house and look at the ospreys every spring and summer. Piper loved to watch them grow up and fly away. I think that’s one of the things she misses about Maryland.
You commented on my blog post about thinking it’s cooler out here. Most people tend to think that because all they see of Seattle is rain. I read recently that New York City receives more annual rainfall than Seattle! I think it’s because Seattle has many drizzly days. However, we are on the other side of the Cascade Mountains, on the far eastern border of Washington state. We are considered high desert. We definitely have all four seasons. It is supposed to be 100° by the end of this week. In the winter it isn’t unusual to have below zero temperatures. So we definitely have huge temperature swings here. Have a wonderful day Debra.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  2. I wish they did the evening market here. It's always 9 am sharp on Saturday morning. Who wants to get up early and go through a sea of people on a Saturday morning? I will have to see if I can put a bug in somebody's ear to try this out next year! And $7 a bunch for those flowers - what a deal!

  3. Our market, Leesburg, VA, has had some awesome peaches. Sure would be nice to have a yarn vendor! I love looking for the Osprey nest when we drive over to the beach. Not growing up in this area I was amazed at the size of the nests.

  4. How cool to have an evening market!
Madison has a big farmer's market on Saturdays around the Capitol Square. But it's gotten so big and so crowded that we never go any more. It's kind of sad, actually.
