For Crying Out Loud

Mitten knitters, see anything wrong with this photo? If you noticed that I hadn't left an opening for the thumb then you are a smarter knitter than I am.

I blew right through the directions where it says to put those stitches on some scrap yarn. You'd think it was my first ever pair of mittens but it's not. I've knit plenty. Plenty enough to know better. I had a nice afternoon of tedious ripping and tinking.

I could blame in on the Olympics or old age or Covid brain or anything but it was just me being stupid. I do that a lot these days. I did get it all back on track and the waste yarn knit into the right place but right now me and Mr. Mittens are not on speaking terms. A nice, long time out is probably in their future.

  1. Oh, I am living the irritation of stupid, too. Yesterday when Bill dropped me off at the drs to run errands and I was to call him when I was done-and for the second time, I left my phone in the vehicle so I was cut off. Gratefully, he answered his phone when an unusual number showed! I berate myself, too. Instead we need to remember to laugh more not less!

  2. Oops! I saw the first photo without reading and thought, "I wonder where the thumb is." Then I read your post. You did a great job with the reknit though. We all have those days.
    Blessings and hugs,

  3. Oh no! I think I'd have tried to steek it. No I wouldn't have, but I'd certainly recommend someone else try it. :) Glad you were able to get them back on track. I hope they don't stay in timeout too long.
