Rest Day!

No spinning for me today. Like the TdF riders, I need a break. I also have other things to attend to like my latest weaving adventure.

It's not without some drama. All those film canisters are entire sections of color I forgot to warp. Boo me. Thankfully I'll only have to fiddle with them for one towel's worth. This is going to be a quick weave.

After a few rows I can see it's going to look pretty good. I was worried about how the colors would work out using a dark green as weft.

I finally got the right blue so the July towels are also a go. Better late than never.

I have to say after that fiddly bumbaret warp, this is a real pleasure to work on.

I also got another installment of my towel of the (every other) month kit but it's not ringing my bell.

Purple is just not a color I think of when I think of kitchens. It may just end up stash. What do you think?

  1. They aren't particularly my cup of tea either. But, you know, someone out there would probably find them perfect for their kitchen.

I'd work them up and I'll bet someone on your gift list at Christmas would adore them.

  3. I love the colors in the first towel too. And the patriotic colors are great, but I have to agree with you that purple isn't a color that I associate with a kitchen. And purple is my favorite color of all time...just not in the kitchen! I know that someone as creative as you will find a use for that beautiful thread though.

  4. Nice work on the current towels on the loom; nice one on the warping board, too.
The new kit might just surprise you-give it a try!

  5. Hmmmm. I have to agree. Not my choice for the kitchen either. Love that first one though!

  6. You must have the world's prettiest bunch of kitchen towels! Love that new one and can't wait to see the patriotic one in progress, too. My DD #2, who wore purple heels under her wedding gown, would definitely approve of the purple combo!

  10. I think the purple will be very fun. Your weaving amazes me, I am all about very simple looms.
