Wut?

Yesterday was errand day and I was taken aback by the amount of ugly Christmas sweaters there were to behold. Marshall's was full of them . Even on the dog aisle.

Walmart had plenty of them too and some of these things with the leggings to match. Do people really wear these?

Even the men had several aisles of the ugly things. No age or gender was spared and they weren't exactly cheap.

I thought I was into neutral territory in the grocery store but noooooo......they were everywhere. I just don't get it.

  1. I'm afraid I don't get it either. That money could be used for YARN!

  2. I think it's supposed to be funny but I remember wearing some Christmas sweaters back in the day that would now be considered "ugly"! Styles change!!??!

  3. I don't know why they think we all need those reminders of ugly sweaters. Horrid!

  4. I've wondered the same thing. I've seen that elf costume worn at Hubbys office Christmas party by one of the young women. Seriously? I thought she looked ridiculous.

  5. I see a lot of events that request attendees wear ugly Christmas sweaters, so I can understand why they are popular and sold in stores.

  6. I don't get it either. Though like Ellen commented, there was a time when some of my sweaters would be perfect for an ugly sweater contest - like the one that my daughter told me looked like it had ticks on it. (Never worn again.)

  7. more plastic waste and "fast fashion":( utterly useless - but it's nice to know that I am not the only one who thinks that:)

  8. In the last 10 years or so, Ugly Christmas Sweaters have become a thing. Particularly with younger people, they buy them to wear to Ugly Christmas Sweater parties. It's as much to make fun of people who wear holiday themed clothing sincerely as anything else. They find it hilarious.

How do I know this? I have holiday themed clothing that I really like. But I stopped wearing it out of the house because otherwise my joy and fun was mocked.

  9. I don't get it either, but the rise started a few years ago. It's a giant waste of money to me, but hey - to each their own.

  10. I think they wear them to ugly Christmas sweater parties, but it seems a waste to me.

  11. I can see pulling one out of the closet that's left over from the '80's or buying one from Goodwill for $2 to wear to an ugly sweater party but... And the people who take the time to hand knit them... with expensive yarns... Good grief! I don't get that at all.
