The Last First Friday
The first Friday of every month is always a big block party at the beach. It used to be every Friday before the pandemic. Now it's just the once a month so the crowds, we've heard, are enormous. This was the last one of the season so we thought we'd go see.
We showed up an hour early and got take out from our favorite Mexican place. We sat on some benches on the boardwalk and ate while watched the event unfold.
The water is so different at night. It fades into the horizon.
We got to watch the vendors setting up. I loved this repurposed Air Stream.
There was also a vintage car show. There weren't many cars while we were there but we did love this Karmann Ghia. By the time we were leaving more cars were roaring in and the crowd was getting as bad as we've heard so it was time to go.
And......Dee was sharing funny kitty drinking photos so I took this one of Pup while we were there. When we are out she will only drink right out of a water bottle. We've tried fancy doggie bottles and packable bowls but this is the only way she will drink. After a dinner of Mexican food she really needed a drink. So did I. I only wished mine could have been a margarita.
Still, it looks like you got there just at the right time for an enjoyable time! Too funny to see Pup's tongue sticking into the bottle! lol
ReplyDeleteA fun way to spend the evening. Your dinner looks delicious. Mexican is one of our favorites too. Pup is spoiled. Just as she should be. Our Zoey is spoiled too. :-) She likes to drink out of my cup when we're out and about. With covid on the rise again, big crowds aren't great are they? We're supposed to go to a concert in December and a cruise in January. This same concert is where we got the big C last December. Who would have thought it would still be around? The tickets weren't cheap though so we'll see as the day gets closer.

Aww, Pup is adorable! My college roommate had a Ghia, and we had a blast on road trips with the top down. Thanks for triggering that memory.
ReplyDeleteOh - I love the Ghia - you certainly don't see many of those now a days! And the airstream - so cute! One of our friends restored one of the little teardrop ones. He used it for a couple of years, then sold it for a pretty penny!
