Kitchen Update

Since we haven't received another delay notice about the kitchen cabinets we thought we'd better get back to work on the floor.

When I say we I really mean me. I do the down work. The Mister has a very hard time getting down on the floor thanks to his bad hip and knees. I spent yesterday scraping off the thin set from the old tile. If you get it nice and wet it comes up pretty easily.

I think I am going to miss my plastic floor. There is something to be said about a big sheet of plastic. I can just take it outside and hose it off when it gets dirty and it only costs about $20 to replace it. Having a real floor again is going to take some getting used to.

My reward for a hard day's work was to get a few minutes to sit and spin while The Mister filled in a couple of holes with some wood putty. Watching him struggle to get this done has me wondering what putting down the new floor is going to be like. We've both aged quite a bit in the past year and half. This should be interesting.

  1. Ouch! I hate having to get down on my hands and knees. I have stiff joints and arthritis doesn't help things.

  2. Exactly right...it is HARD to be down on the floor working! I recommend the soft knee pads-they sure help the knee joints! Excited for you--it will be great to have this job on the other side of done!

  3. This will be Dave and I soon - We have a lot of floor space to do in the new place. I have a feeling I will end up doing most of it, because Dave's got bad knees. Of course, I've got a bad back... we are quite the pair!

  4. I hear ya! Getting down is not a problem: it’s getting up that extremely difficult.

  6. I wore garden knee pads as I worked on getting ready to add mulch around the bushes at the back of my property. And, yes, I kept thinking, why didn't I have this done for me, I am too old for this!
But I am also too cheap, which is why I was doing it myself!
    Good luck with your floor!
