Yum

In spite of a very sore arm and feeling pretty punky I managed to pull off another St. Patrick's Day dinner yesterday. I don't think my malaise was from the vaccine as much as it was the stress of the day. I was a total wreck from start to finish. I barely slept a wink that night.  A big mug of Killian's at dinner and a full tummy helped immensely. The soda bread was amazing this year. Real buttermilk really makes the difference. So much for being a vegan. I definitely cheated with that soda bread.

While I spent the day curled up on the couch watching St. Patrick's Day movies on TCM The Mister finished his first paint by number. He's already got another one here and ready to start. He really is enjoying it and I am liking all the down time I get while he's painting. Win. Win.

I also had a surprise package show up from my blogfriend Sandflies. There is nothing like having a miserable day and then having a box of chocolate treats show up. Thanks Sandflies! You really made my day.

  2. Your St. Patricks Day dinner looks so yummy! I haven't had corned beef in a long time.
I'm dreading and yet anticipating with glee my second vaccine. Which one did you get? Mine was Pfizer and I'm hopeful the second dose won't be as bad as I've heard. It's worth it to beat Covid though.

  3. Glad you got your shot. Your dinner looks yummy. We had corned beef specials for lunch (corned beef, cole slaw and russian dressing on rye bread). No St. Patty's Day dinner for us though. The last time I cooked one it was awful - LOL

  4. I felt the same way yesterday. We ended up eating soup and cheese with crackers. I couldn't even muster up energy to cook.

  5. Hopefully your arm is not as sore today and you can get some rest. The Mister did a nice job on his painting.

  7. Your dinner looks absolutely delicious!! We had ours cooked in the instant pot and it was wonderful - I actually got the timing right this year - Last year I didn't factor in the heating time before the food cooks -
Wow! Paint by numbers have really improved since my childhood (oh, so long ago) - That scene is really amazing!!

  8. Oh aren't those paint by numbers awesome for keeping mISTERS busy!!!!! My Mister Fireman has done 3. and you know we framed the last one. Now he is carving . I "surprised him" with a set of hand carving tools and wood blocks and a book. So far I've gotten two nice kitchen measuring spoons. Also , he made an owl first. We are smart ones aren't we?
    Feel better fast. Slate

  9. My arm ached briefly the day after my first shot. Actually I was working on a very strong boy with CP and my arm was not as strong and I was wondering what was going on, it was only for a few minutes and then I was back to wrestling those tight muscles of his like a seasoned pro. So glad you are on your way to shot number 2!
