The Other Winter Projects

I had to take a break from all the picking up and knitting from the bin of shame to go get my grocery order yesterday. It takes forever to wash and store all the produce I can't stop buying. I was horrified at how much I weighed when I went to my doctor visits for my thrush so I've been trying to do something about it. My doctor is a vegan so a vegan I've become at his suggestion. I've lost 13 pounds so far so I must be doing something right.

When all that was done I decided to pick up the other projects that won't be much fun to work on when the weather warms up. It's still cold as heck here-in the 20's at night with a cold wind that just won't quit. I got the afterthought thumbs set up on the mittens and a few more rows on each knit.

Then I tackled one more block on the snowflake quilt. Trying to meander on a quilt that is already full of swirly material has been hard on my old brain but slowly and surely it's getting done. Like this winter, I won't be a bit sorry when it's all finished.

  1. Lots of great projects with progress on each one. Especially the diet. Good for you Debbie. I'm embarrassed to say I got on the scale last week for the first time in ages and I've gained a LOT of covid weight. It's ridiculous and I need to do something too.

  2. Good for you going vegan and losing that weight. You must feel so much better. I am not vegan but don't eat many things that lead to inflammation, still its hard sometimes to eat correctly. Love your mitts, stay safe.

  3. When the weather breaks, you will be ready to face it with a slimmer you and new bright, light-weight yarns!

  4. I have a lot of friends who are vegan. It does rule out a lot of baked goods! I highly recommend Oh She Glows blog and books. Even my meat-loving husband really likes her recipes.

  5. I think we all gained weight during the pandemic. Easier going on than coming off. Sounds like you are on a good veggie track:)

  6. In my experience, losing weight has a lot to do with eating tons of veggies and not much to do with lean meat and fish. Dairy, bread, processed foods, and sweets are the big killers. Good for you.
