Sweater Weather


It's not sweater weather here. It's still too warm and humid. Yuck. The only sweater in my life is on the needles. Both sleeves are done now so it was time to get the body started.



 I needed to cast on 236 stitches. It took me 2 episodes of that British Baking Show to get it done.



236 stitches is a lot of stitches. I may not get this sweater done this year after all. What was I thinking?

I didn't take any chances with twisting all those stitches so I worked back and forth for a few rows so I could see what I'm doing. I'll sew that little seam that it left later.



There was a casualty. That's my first cast on attempt. I ran out of yarn with about 20 stitches to go. I hate when that happens.

    A brilliant idea for casting on so many stitches in the round. I need to remember that trick. You can do this. A new sweater by the New Year!!! :-)

    I'm watching the British Baking Show as well! My only problem is watching the "Bread Week" episode - I have to make sure I have some good bread in the house when the carb cravings hit me!

    Oh no! I think I would have shed tears over the casting on casualty. As quickly as you got the sleeves done, I'm sure you'll have no problem knitting the body.

    WOW! You have completed the sleeves. I think that is impressive and believe you will be able to wear this sweater this winter. Cooler weather might be a big motivator but then it would be so nice to be out and about that you probably need to keep knitting on these hot and humid days. I was so thankful to see the sun late this morning. It is really humid with all the rain we have had from Florence. So fortunate that where I live our biggest issues were flooding, power outages and trees down.

    It's still humid here too. With my fair knitting done, I wanted to get back to the Empire Line cardigan... but i just can't face cashmere in this heat!

    Amen. I too hate it when I run out of long tail for the cast on. Blast. It is not sweater weather in Nebraska either - ninety degrees and humid. I am ready for fall weather.

    Hey, I just read a new way to do the long tail cast on so you will never run out of 'tail' before you are done--use both ends of the skein and you will never have this casualty again!
    (I can't wait for my yarn to come so I can cast on this sweater!)
