Riley

This is the cozy little nook in the corner of the basement where I've been hiding from that winter storm that hit the coast.

We didn't get any snow. We just got the wind. Our house is surrounded by huge trees so we take wind very seriously. We've seen what trees have done to our neighbors houses and it isn't pretty. We are having 60 mile an hour gusts on saturated ground so it's a recipe for disaster.

So far, as I write this at 7 am Friday morning, we've just been littered with medium sized branches. At least that's all I can see from a quick peek out the door. I'm writing tomorrow's post as soon as I post this because I am betting at some point today the power is going out. It's always something.

  1. I’ve been thinking of you as I watched the news today, praying you have survived the storm and that all is well with no damages. Love your chair. It looks the one I used while visiting Miss Piper when she was much smaller,. Stay safe.
    Blessings,

  6. The wind here was sort of frightful last night and I had trouble sleeping. At one point I thought we had either lost a tree of some window screens. A quick look out of the window didn't reveal much so I'll walk out in a while to see if I can spot what the noise was from. My son and his family lost electricity in PA but have a wood-burning stove. They may be heading over later today if electrics aren't restored because the grandkids had difficulty sleeping. If they do I will have to stow away all the yarn I have that's been sitting around waiting for projects! Stay warm, everyone!

  7. A wind storm can be frightening, especially at night. I hope your power stays on and that everyone in your neighborhood got through the storm safely.

  11. Glad it wasn't too bad for you.

We got 4" of snow. Lost power last night for about 6 hours and just got our internet back a few minutes ago. But, so far, no damage as far as I can see.

  13. It's been the same here. Terrible wind. Downrite scary and I don't have a basement to hide in. The house is brick though. Thank goodness for that.
