Going Solo

The Mister and I did something yesterday we haven't done in over a year. We went our separate ways at the same time. When Dear Old Doggie was with us we had to tag team her care so we were limited in our ability to get out and about.

Today he went and played golf and Pup and I took a walk down by the bay all by our lonesome. It's sad not to have Old Doggie with us anymore but taking care of a disabled dog is a terrific undertaking and we had been at it for almost two years.

We even left Pup at home and went and had dinner at our local Mexican place for Valentine's Day. Since she wasn't able to walk anymore we could never leave Old Doggie alone so dining out was something we haven't done in ages. Ages.

Of course I cried all the way home. Maybe it was the sangria, maybe it was all the losses over the past few weeks. Dinner was good but sometimes a good cry is better. Even sadder was the tragic news coming out of Florida at the same time we were heading home.

I am rather proud to say I got banned off Twitter for 12 hours last night for my response to this tweet that the NRA had re-tweeted right before the shooting.  If you are curious about why I have a hair trigger to these mass shooting events you can read all about it in my post Too Close to Home.

  1. You are my hero. I'm not on Twitter otherwise I'd be banned too.

  2. OMG that is quite possibly the most inappropriate thing EVER, at any time.

I'm glad you had a lovely day, but I'm also glad you had a good cry. You need one every once in a while. And think how Older Pup was happy that you got out, after so many years of being a caretaker.

  3. And the politicians who are on the NRAs payroll, so to speak, will continue to turn a blind eye. I hate it. So incredibly sad. And wrong!

  4. It's sad that a day centered on love will now be associated with pain and grief and devastation for so many.

  5. I’m so glad you were able to get out and about yesterday and even enjoy dinner with The Mister. The news was horrible and tragic last night. I almost wish I hadn’t turned the T.V. on to see if more snow was on the way. I rarely watch the news anymore because it’s never good.
I hope today is a wonderful one for you.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. What a lovely outing you had. The sangria looks great! Sorry about the feelings dredged up. Some things just make no sense.

  8. Sometimes a good cry is the best thing. And when you're mourning, they will hit you at odd times. But your body knows what it needs - just roll with it.

And can I say, Pup is just the cutest in her little sweater.

  9. So many emotions and changes you have had recently-go easy on yourself. The outing was good for you and so was the cry.

  10. You've been through way too much recently - a good cry is good for you. Just go with it. And, a walk by the water is ALWAYS good. Ahhhh, Mexican food...it's calling my name....

  11. First off I have to say that Pup is just the cutest little thing. I just want to hug her with that cute little smile on her face....and as for you....you let those tears flow. It's good for you and all part of the grief process. After my son was killed in a car accident I could cry at the drop of a hat.....anywhere, anytime and in the strangest places it would hit me. I think we are all crying with you on all this gun violence and the lack of concern from the current law makers. Sad....so very sad!! Vote people...vote them out!!

  12. Glad I don't do Twitter and am sorry they got after you. How come you know who doesn't get banned? Hope today has been better than yesterday; you're right the news was awful then. It makes me afraid for our kids and grandkids, that's for sure.
