Daughter works on the weekend so we celebrated my birthday yesterday with a trip out to our favorite Christmas store.
Daughter takes her Christmas ornament shopping very seriously.
She actually found a red skate ornament for her tree. She wears red skates for coaching
This place is room after room of gorgeous decorations. You could spend a week there.
I was very happy to see so many woolly and knitted type ornaments this year.
The back shops are filled with plants. I wish my cats didn't eat them.
Then there is the room full of trains. I was surprised to see so many toddlers there on a Monday morning.
The pet room had this beautiful hooked kitty rug. I love it.
In the outdoor shop they had this giant light up Santa. I want him.
Outside you can warm up by the fire while they pack your tree up.
There is also a giant sleigh for photos.
The surrounding fields are full of critters like sleeping goats.....
...and chickens in holes. Can anyone explain why there are chickens sitting in holes all over the chicken yard?
There was a field of alpacas....
...and very noisy but very sweet piggies who wanted a scratching. I had a wonderful time.
We had lunch at Panera and then we went to see Daddio who is in a care home right down the street from the nursery. He was having a good day for a change and seemed to enjoy his visit with Daughter. He called her Summertime which is what he used to call her back when. That was the most I have heard him say in ages. There were lots of tears on the way home. Lots.....

It sounds like a lovely, lovely day. Including a wonderful gift of your visit with Daddio Andrew your daughter. She is lovely.
ReplyDeleteIs that garden near Edgewater? It looks like the place I went with Mandy and Piper two years ago but I can’t remember the name of it. A truly magical place.
Blessings,
Betsy
Yes it is. It's a very popular place year round.
DeleteThank you for sharing with us. It brought back some wonderful memories. I had never seen. A place so BIG!
DeleteLove that Dadio calls Daughter Summertime. And those animals! Sleeping goats and piggies. What a great day!
ReplyDeleteChristmas is a special time, and it looks like your day was filled with Christmas magic.
ReplyDeleteIn the summer, chickens dig holes in the dirt and lay in them to help stay cool. I imagine in the winter it helps them stay warm.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a wonderful day!
Oh Sweetie. Hugs to you and Summertime and Daddio. he clearly connected when he saw her. Those fleeting specs of who they used to be are bittersweet aren't they? Love ya
ReplyDeleteThat must have been so gratifying to see Daddi-o enjoy your daughter!!! I'm so happy for you.
ReplyDeleteAs for the garden center --- I think that cat rug would have had to come home with me!
Oh geez. Happy Birthday! It looked to be a lovely day with your daughter. I don't know where that store is, but I want to go with you. My Mom loves that stuff too, her and my sister would love it. I like all the animals but the goats. I'm still kinda weird about goats since I was 3.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it was good day with Daddio. Bittersweet, huh? I almost cried with you. But it was a very good day with your family.
I know just how you feel about Daddio. I've been watching Packers' games with my dad, and we've had some lovely moments.
