Second Sock Syndrome

I've been ouchy for a few days. My shoulder has been giving me fits. The ortho guy says it's bursitis and I've got to learn to live with it. Most of the time I can deal but for the past few days it's sent me to the pill bottle and I never take pills.

Before my mandatory arm resting went into effect on Sunday I managed to get two socks done. That would be a good thing if they were from the same pair but alas, they are not.

This is my first Miss Babs sock. It's plain because I wanted to enjoy the yarn that everyone raves about.

I thought it odd at first but it grows on you. It's not as willy nilly as it first seems. There is a plan there.

I also finished another sock for charity. This is intended for Wool Aid and it's one of the sock patterns from their group site on Ravelry.

It's double stranded for warmth with one strand of standard sock yarn and one of a worsted wool.  My first try was way too dense and got frogged. They had no give but these are just fine and knit up quickly. Now if I can get a few days of rest for this blankety blank arm I just may be up to casting on their partners by the end of the week. It's heck getting old.

  1. Your bottle of ibuprofen looks just like MY bottle of ibuprofen that I've been taking for this headache of mine for over 1 1/2 weeks. I did manage to finish a sock this afternoon and promptly cast on the second one. I love both of yours. I've been wanting to try Miss Babs sock yarn but haven't made the splurge yet. Yours is gorgeous. Hope your shoulder heals very quickly.

  2. Sorry to hear about your shoulder. I mentioned you in my post about my Regina Marie this weekend :)

  3. It is hard to find the mechanical getting rusty, isn't it?! I hope with rest you will soon be able to tackle the other socks. You might have to try to change your positioning while knitting to reduce stress on your shoulder. It's hard to change but it will keep you knitting so it's worth it! It's why I changed my technique 8 years ago!

  4. So sorry to hear about your shoulder. I try to go light on the pain killers, but sometimes you just have to give in and take some!

  5. Darn Bursas. I've had butt bursitis and shoulder bursitis. Stretches help tremendously. More than meds for me. Find them on line. I love your socks. Val s post is all about spiders today..thought youd like that

  6. I wish I could take ibuprofen it makes me face swell up! I am loving your socks and sure hope your shoulder feels better soon,
