Off Balance

Pup and I are still taking advantage of our early morning walks while The Mister is in therapy. The weather has been on our side.

Sitting and knitting with the sound of the bay hitting the shore is the best part of my day. I don't know how I could ever leave this place. That big water is the one thing that keeps me going. I still feel like that 8 year old kid in the back seat of my parent's car as we crested the hill where you can see the water for the first time. The way it just appears is like magic. I still can't believe I live here now.

Back at home I have to fight the battle of the washing machine. The tech guy came on Tuesday, said the suspension was shot (no duh) and he'll be back in a week to 10 days with the parts. In the meantime I'm still doing laundry in the tub and coaxing the washer into the rinse and spin cycle that takes several pauses and readjustments to balance and re-balance each load. It takes all day. It's very annoying but you gotta do what you gotta do.

  1. When my friend Carol lived in Chesapeake City I always loved visiting and spending a night or two. The water was so close and it is so relaxing to watch it! She now lives in Elkton, just outside of Chesapeake City, so the water is still close, but now you have to drive to it.

  2. I know exactly what you mean about the big water. Dennis and I both love the ocean. We would sit for hours mesmerized by the waves hitting the shore. I can't believe that it's been years since we've been to the Oregon coast. I guess the walk along the beach in Dover counts too, but the Oregon coast is magic to me.
I'm glad that you get to enjoy your happy place often.
So sorry about your washing machine. I hope it gets taken care of soon. I can only imagine how how frustrating that is.
    Hope your Friday is good.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  3. Our dream is to retire to a big water place. I grew up spending my summers on a salt water river and have always wanted to return to the water. As for your washer, it's scaring me a little. It looks very much like the one we just bought... without the extra warranty.

  4. I’m about as landlocked as a person can be, but I do love sitting and watching ocean waves whenever I’m near. In the meantime, a babbling brook works, too.

  5. We do like our machines to work and it so annoys us when they are on the fritz!

  6. It was very odd for both Dave and I when we moved here. We both grew up around Lake Ontario, and spent lots of time on Lake Erie. We were never more than 15 minutes from either lake. Now... we are over an hour to the nearest Great Lake (Lake Huron). It's 2 hours to Lake Erie and 2.5 to Lake Ontario. It's funny how much the landscape shapes who you are.
