Rookie Mistakes

So I'm riding along in my pajamas to the dump keeping The Mister company on our weekly jaunt  yesterday morning when my knitting radar went off. Something wasn't right about the ribbing on the second man sock.

I always carry the first one with me so it was easy to see I had gone overboard with the ribbing on the second one. Rip, rip, rip which wasn't easy while bouncing around in the car.

It was even harder to get all those live stitches back on the needle but somehow I managed it.

Back at home I tinked back a row to straighten it all out. I lost a week's work. Figs.

I should also confess that earlier in the week I had turned the heel on the blue sock without shaping the heel first. More ripping. More tinking.  Double figs. Apparently I've gotten to good at taking the mind out of mindless knitting.

  1. I'm so sorry about your sock woes this week. If it helps, I've done both things myself. And I wonder, "how did I possibly do that?" But I did it. I hope this week is better my friend.
    Blessings,

  2. Ahhh... that heel thing. I've done that multiple times. My usual ribbing problem is that I get too impatient and make the 2nd sock shorter. But hey - at least you are getting to enjoy the yarn for a longer period of time. :)

  3. It’s easy to do, and I’ve done both.

  6. I feel your pain! I am going to try to get a whole week of knitting without ripping back!
