Cant Hook

No, this isn't a post about me not being able to crochet. It's about a cant hook. This is a cant hook. I can't hook but that's a story for another day.

This is what it does. It grabs onto wood so you can drag it around and then it holds it up so you can saw it without hitting the dirt with your chainsaw. It was my Valentine's Day present to myself and I love it.

Even The Mister found himself borrowing it for his big stuff. We took down what was left of that big limb yesterday. What a job. Pup was supervising but not at all happy about it. She wanted to go for walk. She got one later.

Ta da.......the fruit of my labor. It's not much but it's a start. I've got plenty more where that came from.

See what I mean? We get one thing done and then it's on to another. After this monster is gone we'll only have two trees out back to do and one in the front.  I would have started with the one laying across my front yard but The Mister is not seeing it my way.

Last year's Valentine's Day present is also getting a workout. That's my new maul. I've been splitting while The Mister is sawing. I've got quite a pile.....and quite a backache.

  1. Oh my! Its an unending battle isn't it? I've never heard of a cant hook before and I can see how it would be a great help. Be careful with that maul. They scare me.

  3. Oh my goodness! These are tools I don't think I would ever use. And now, the Monty Python song about lumberjacks is going through my head!

  4. Wow! i can haul some of the split wood but not use the maul or the chainsaw! You're doing the work of another man! I have never heard of a cant hook--I thought the title was about crochet! lol

  5. If i were the Mister... I'd be a little worried about your choice of Valentine's gifts. If he ever ticked you off, you are well-equipped to do some serious damage!

  7. The right tools make work easier. I can’t imagine how sore you must be at the end of the day.

  8. Neat gadget and those trees look larger with each photo you share. I would have started with the tree in front first also. It sounds like you get quite a workout each day.

  10. Sorry, but that Valentine's day gift is about as depressing as getting a new vacuum cleaner. Although.... I would really like a new vacuum. :) Pup is adorable in her sweater!
