Something Big

My giant blanket is one step closer to being done. One of the skinny vertical borders is finished. I just have one more to do and it's a done deal.

It's too big to work on comfortably anymore. I'm not sure just how big because it's all pushed onto long cables wires. The whole outside perimeter is live stitches which will have to be dealt with.

Then there is the back. The weaving in is not too scary but I hate the back . It's ugly. I was thinking about a backing but I think it's too big to wrestle with.

Whatever. I just want it done. It's been sitting next to my bed to shame me into working on it since 2010 and I'm really tired of stepping over it.

  3. You are so close to a finish on this one--it is a work of art!!!
(you could back it with polar fleece and 'tie' it like quilts used to be; it would be tufted on the back and nothing would show on the front--just an idea to think about when you are finished!)

  4. Power through ..........you can do it! I wouldn't worry about the back. Once the ends are woven in, consider it done. A backing might make it too heavy too.

  5. That is a beautiful blanket! So much intricate details. Put it aside. The next time you look at it, you will see what a wonderful work of art it is and appreciate it even more.

  6. you're so close!
What about an icord edge to finish it off.. might be more manageable with all those live stitches.
And don't worry about the back - when you're snuggling under it in the depths of winter, you're going to love it!

  7. Wow! That is stunning! I can't fathom the number of hours you must have put into it already. You must finish it! It's gorgeous! And I think think the back is pretty too. Not 'front pretty' but pretty enough to be left as is.

  8. The blanket is stunning. I also think the back is lovely and don't think it needs covered.

  9. That is an absolutely beautiful blanket! I cannot even imagine the work that has gone into it. You need to get it finished in time to use it this winter. Also, I don't think the back is that unattractive. I love the blanket!

  10. That is an amazing blanket. Don't wait too long to finish it or it will be summer -- and I clearly remember Maryland summers! You won't want to work on it then.
I think the back is quite pretty. I don't think it needs to be lined at all.
