I was on my way to finishing another pair of socks when disaster struck. Can you see it?
Right at the very red toe the yarn had been spliced. Kind of. It sort of fell apart. It wasn't even knotted. It didn't even follow the stripe colors. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.
This wasn't really cheap yarn either. It's not the most expensive but I expected better.
Before the big boo boo I had liked the yarn so much I had even bought some more.
This were supposed to go in the gift basket but with that toe graft I guess they will have to be mine now. Darn. I hate when that happens.

It happens all the time, especially with Noro, that is one o the reasons I won't buy that yarn anymore. Super expensive and one knot after another not following the color path. That are lovely, enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteNice save - I doubt the recipient will even notice.
ReplyDeleteOops! Not a great thing to happen but, looking on the bright side, at least it was the toe and not the leg! Toes are much less noticeable.

Betsy
That's really very disappointing! However, I admit that even with the glitch I love those socks! Wonderful colors!
ReplyDeleteWow! That doesn't even look like they tried to splice it. You should contact the company. The socks are lovely though and I'd be happy to wear them, grafted toe or not.
ReplyDeleteYour crazy lady. ID take them as a gift pair ANY DAY! I hate when that happens to my yarn tho!
ReplyDeleteEven so, the socks are just beautiful! I bet only an experienced knitter would notice the toe graft.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you could make a save but yes, it is so terrible to run into a bump like that! (and worse that the yarn continues 'out of order'!)
ReplyDeleteThat is frustrating! Especially since they were going to be a gift. At least the toe is an easy spot to hide. And the yarn is very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI am guessing no one would notice:) I envy your sock making ability!
ReplyDeleteThat is very annoying! There must be something in the air as that happened to me on my most recent pair of socks also, but wasn't Heritage. Mine was Lana Grossa Meilenweit. Once I complained and was told that as many as 4 knots are considered "normal". Not by me though! And yours wasn't even a knot!
