My Vintage Valentine

When I was cleaning out my bedroom closet I found a box of baby things that contained this old book of Valentines.

Do you remember these books? Look at that price. You know this is old. It's not from my kid's time. It's from mine.

Why I still have it, I have no idea but I'm glad I do.

It brings back such memories. I can remember sitting on the living room floor with my sisters carefully cutting out all the pieces. Making the little envelopes was my favorite part. The directions on the flaps say paste. Do they even make paste anymore?

 How about these paper dolls?

Remember all those little tabs you had to cut around? Good times.

Speaking of Valentines, The Mister wandered down into the card room and made me this one.

He used all my leftovers from the Valentines I sent this year. He had a bit of trouble with the interior sentiment but I think he pulled off a pretty good save.
Happy Valentine's Day everybody!

  2. What a cute card from the Mister. You are a lucky girl. And your valentines took me ona walk down memory lane. I don’t know if they make paste or not. Until you mentioned it I hadn’t thought about it. I guess all I ever see now are glue sticks and Elmers glue. That’s sad. I remember the pots of paste with the brush or stick in the middle. I loved making valentines and cutting them all out. Paper dolls too. I think ours was probably the last generation for those types of activities. So sad. Thanks for the memories my friend. Blessings, Betsy

  4. How very sweet! My OH brought me a beautiful rose - our tradition which is simple but it's ours! Oh, paper dolls were my favorites - I could hardly wait for my Mom to finish her McCall's magazine so I could cut out the Betsy McCall paper doll!

  7. What a trip down memory lane! I remember all of those things. I was not a fan of paper dolls though. The clothes would never stay on the dolls and were always getting lost. What a sweet card from your husband! Happy Valentine's Day!!!
