R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

The Mister had to take one of the cats to the vets on Thursday morning for some shots. When he came home this is what he found strung up accross the road in front of our little development.

It was the funeral procession for one of our town EMS workers who passed away last week. I owe a lot to these people. The guy on the right helped me pick Daddio up off the floor on many occasions.  I can still hear him say "Walt, what did you do now" as he patiently assessed our latest situation. It was so touching watching them say goodbye to a cherished colleague.

The procession was magnificent. Firehouses and police stations from all over the state were represented in a roar of flashing lights and sirens.

Pup didn't appreciate the noise but it was a send off to remember. Everyone should live a life that deserves this kind of respect. I should mention she was a she. She was not much older than me and she passed away suddenly from a medical emergency-on a call. Respect.

  1. What a wonderful and moving tribute to a fallen comrade. I’m glad that they did this beautiful honoring of someone who spent her life helping others. I wish the world all thought more like this and less about themselves.
    Blessings,

  3. Lovely!

The same thing happens in my area with law enforcement, fire firefighters, and EMTs. They come from all over the state to bid farewell and show respect.

  4. Looks like your area did it up right and sent her out with a fitting tribute.

Sadly, I've seen far too many of these processions in the past couple of years.
