Let the Games Begin


I was tempted to try and knock this off for my winter Olympic knitting project but I had such bad luck with the 2014 hat that I decided against it.



I actually decided against knitting anything at all. I've got enough to finish up. I don't need anything new.



 What I decided to do was spin something instead. I had a free wheel and a giant bag of  undyed Corriedale.



 Remind you of anything? They are supposed to be the Olympic rings.




 I just spooned on the dye.




 I let it drain in the sink before it got a ride in the microwave.




I have no talent when it comes to dyeing so I was happy to see that all the dye did not run off when I rinsed it. Now I have the long wait until it dries. Hopefully that will be before the Opening Ceremony.  That's Friday, right?

    I would have never thought of that. You are amazing! What do you use for dye? I’ve only dyed yarn once and I used koolaide. I was surprised at how easy it was.

      It's Jacquard brand dye. I've done koolaid too and the colors were really pretty. So is egg dye.

    Yes ! But there is some coverage tonight . I love your Olympic ring dying! We had a Olympic class at the barn with the students and they had flashlights with fake fire to carry as torches to the anthem. Very cute.

    You need relaxing and not a tense colorwork hat knit-the spinning (great dyeing, btw) will be just what you need to relax and watch this weekend!

    That is going to be beautiful yarn. I am not knitting anything specific this Olympics, I am just trying to get a few minutes to play with yarn each day. With two puppies that is asking a lot!
