Uh, Oh....

Big Grand tried on his finished sock on Thanksgiving and something just didn't look right. The heel didn't sit just the way it should. I tried to tell myself it was just his wiggly little foot but I knew better.

I had made the gusset too small. I had suspected it from the time the first one was finished but I was living in knitting la la land. There was nothing to do but to rip them both back to the heel and start again working from better measurement. They should be done by Christmas. I hope.

Speaking of socks, I've still got all these on the needles. So many socks, so little time.

  1. Uh-oh is right! But at least you found out there was an issue and you can fix them. Much better than having them lying in drawer unworn because they didn’t fit right. Way to go Grandma. You’ll have them done in no time.
    Blessings,

  2. Dang! I know how that feels too. I can get hung up in "knitters denial" until the project is almost done before I snap out of it. No worries though....you've still got time to finish before the big day.

  3. Oh, man; that can be discouraging but you did what had to be done! You can get them finished in time, I know you can! I love the array of socks!

  4. Thankful that you had a fitting session! They really are wonderful! Socks "made with care and love" are the best kind!

  5. UGH! At least it was a fixable problem.

I'm determined to get the two socks ON the needles finished so I can start fresh on December 1. Wish me luck.

  7. Oh dear! Well, at least you discovered the problem and are able to rip out and fix...not sure I would be capable of doing that. They sure are pretty (handsome) socks. Love the colors.

  8. I knit in LA lA Land often and it gets me into big time trouble. I will remember this phrase Deb! So sorry.

  9. Oh no! At least they are for little feet and it won't take too long to fix.

  10. I think 2017 has had me in perpetual knitting lala land. "So many socks, so little time." - I think we should make T-shirts, Araignee.
