In Like a Lion

I hate March. It is a long month full of bad weather, bad tempers and for the most part mud and wind.
I am trying to stay as positive as possible by focusing on the one and only thing to look forward to-St Patrick's Day. No, I'm not Irish but I pretend I am on March 17th.

Ages ago Daddio filled a bucket with Irish flag colored paper pieces so I am slowly but surely working my way through them while dreaming of warmer weather. There is nothing fancy going on with them. I am just putting blocks together for a simple table runner that will most likely be done by next St Patrick's Day.

If you haven't caught the paper piecing bug yet and have no idea what I am talking about, take a look at the back and it becomes clear. Daddio covers the stock paper squares and then we I whip stitch them together to create quilt blocks that fit together without any fancy math or sewing. It's relaxing and portable quilting which for knitters would be like making plain socks-only with fabric and much sharper needles.

  1. OMG! It's March already! Where did February go? Beautiful piecework, I love the orange/green combo.

remember starting a paper pierced quilt when I was about 13, evenutually threw it out just a few years ago! it was terrible, more in the colour sense than anything else, I have since learnt how to quilt and hope to go back to it sometime...never paper pierced squares though, just hexagons xx
