Soap Tales

The Lemon bars I made on Sunday turned out just fine.

On Monday I re-made Harlequin Romance. It was very popular during the last giveaway and I ran out so if you didn't get one to try I should have more this time to offer up.

Not bad. I think I like it.

On Tuesday I made some Blackberry Bliss.

It turned out pretty nice too.

On Wednesday it was Oatmeal, Milk and Honey's turn in the pot. It was a bit of a  messy pour....

.....but it turned out just fine.

Soap Week was going along nicely until the problem child showed up. There's always one. I was surprised to see the batter turn that dark caramel color and thicken up before I had even added the scent or any coloring. Same recipe, same everything but what a difference. The only thing I did was mix the ingredients while the lye was hotter than it usually is. I think that glug of honey I always put in is what did it. I have to wait until tomorrow to see how this turns out. Stay tuned.

  1. I'm betting your house smells good! They all look lovely, almost good enough to eat.

  2. For a hot second I thought you had baked lemon bar cookies and I was wondering about them, then I realized it was soap and felt a bit relieved.

  4. When you play with chemistry, it's the details that make the difference! That hotter lye does crazy things! These look great!
