Victory Garden

We're still rolling the carts along following the sun.

They look pretty sad at the moment. It's been a brutal summer for container gardening.

My poor tomatoes are splitting from the inconsistent water issues. I think I've killed them with kindness by watering too much. I just hate to see them wilted.

This is my biggest harvest yet. They are not pretty....

....but they taste wonderful. It's been a long time since I've had my own tomato, warm from the sun, on a sandwich for lunch. I'm calling this a win right here and now. Even if this is all I get, it's been totally worth all the work and expense.

  1. It doesn't matter what they look like as long as they taste good. I'm SO glad that you got your tomatoes.

  2. Split or not, homegrown tomatoes beat store-bought any day!

  5. Deb, You make me feel better. I haven't container gardened In a long while and the results have been mediocre at best. It is only Aug 1, but I really hope my squash and zucchini that are in hills on the garden not in pots, will yield many veggies for the food pantry.
My flowers are fantastic but they don't feed a hungry stomach.

  6. I bet they are delicious. When I grew tomatoes I think I only got three off the vine that worked. It was a lot of work for three tomatoes.
