My four little baby tomatoes are here! I bought them from Amazon and they arrived in perfect condition-in a box. Imagine that.
Their grow bags arrived yesterday too.
I couldn't get any topsoil or potting soil from our local hardware store. You had to go into the store to get it and I wasn't doing that. We did get curbside pickup for some salt pellets and two new trashcans but zippo on dirt so I spent the day digging topsoil out of the woods. I mixed it with some potting soil I had leftover from my front pots that used to have flowers in them but are now full of kale and chard seeds.
Those bags are HEAVY so The Mister said I might as well get my Gorilla cart now. It will be delivered on Wednesday. We can always use it for wood next winter if the mobile garden thing doesn't pan out.
My kale and chard pots are showing some action finally. I was getting worried.
Until the cart gets here it's all tucked away in a sunny spot under netting to protect it from the deer and the bugs. Keeping this little experiment going in that jungle out back is going to take a lot of effort.
How exciting! I've wondered how those grow bags work so it will be fun to watch your experiment.

ReplyDeleteWhat fun you are having playing in the dirt! Your plants all seem to be thriving.
ReplyDeleteIt is all good for the soul! My neighbor brought me three of his babies. He planted tomatoes by seed in March. I put them outside today with half woods dirt and half better soil .. Very much like you have done. Want to have a tomato race??
ReplyDeleteWow! The tomatoes look great for making an Amazon trip! They must have been packed well. Looks like you will have lots of good things on your plate in the future.
