All the Tea in China

It's been a week since our family crab extravaganza and I am now just putting things away and reclaiming my living space. My DIL had brought me a gift that in the hustle and bustle I did not have time to fully appreciate until today.

She is from China. Jinan in the Shandong Province to be exact and she has a friend that is visiting who was kind enough to bring me these gifts. The beautiful ceramic bowl is for holding tea. All the bags and the green box are tea. I love tea. I love everything about tea. I have more teapots than a person should. You can't make me happier than to give me tea.

There was also this gorgeous bookmark. It's a lotus which is the official flower.

I've always known that DIL came from China but I never gave much thought as to where. I had pictured a small town or village but boy, was I wrong. This is Jinan. The Wikipedia page is full of interesting facts about this particular area of eastern China. I had no idea.

Hopefully when my Grands are older they can go visit the city that their mom grew up in.

And we thought Epcot was cool when we visited in 2016....

...but this, this is the real deal.

  1. Oh my! That was a lovely gift. I love tea too. Mandy took me to a tea shop down by the Naval Academy in Annopolis when I visited. I found the most delicious chocolate tea. I don't have much left and so I'm hoarding it! :-)
That teapot and bookmark are beautiful. I really hope the Grands, and you, can visit Jinan someday. I love Asia. With Alex in Japan I have discovered another entire culture that I have fallen in love with. I hope to be healthy enough to visit him next spring.
I hope you have a wonderful Sunday.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  3. I agree - tea is by far the best gift. It can be savored and appreciated long after other gifts have found their way into the closet.

  5. What perfect gifts for you! I wish I liked tea more. It always sounds so calming and delicious. Late afternoons I tell myself I'm going to have a nice cup... then I reheat the morning's leftover coffee in the microwave because it's quicker and easier and I'm lazy.
