I know just how you feel lady soccer player. That's how I felt when I ran out of yarn far from my goal of 42 teeth on my handspun Hitchhiker.
The Women's Team won-woo hoo but I lost the game of yarn chicken. That's all I had left after binding off my last tooth.
It's not a huge problem I suppose. It's big enough to wrap around your neck.
It's blocking now and I have to say I like it. I thought it was meh until I opened up that garter stitch and could see the way the colors wrapped around.
Before yesterday's championship game I also finished plying this while watching the Tour. I was tempted to use it to start another Hitchhiker but with that same 4 oz yardage I'm pretty sure the outcome would be the same.

I think it looks great and plenty big, but I know how disappointing it is to play yarn chicken and lose. The color is fantastic though and so is the pink.

It is oh, so pretty! Blocking is such a game changer even for garter stitch! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteAnd yay! for your first TDF skein! Today, I ply.
I wasn't able to get the full 42 teeth on my hitchhiker either. But it still turned out great!
ReplyDeleteI love how blocking shows up the beauty of the stitches and colors Hitchhiker is one of those patterns that somehow is comforting to knit!
ReplyDeleteYour Hitchhiker and yarn are both beautiful. Sorry you lost at yarn chicken though it appears that you Hitchhiker is a good size and you should really enjoy it once fall arrives.
ReplyDeleteI like my shawls on the long side, too. My last Hitchhiker was 41, and that turns out to be just right.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Dee - use two skeins and alternate them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pink yarn. I'll be anxious to see what you make with it.
ReplyDeleteDespite the yarn chicken loss, the shawl looks great! That yarn chicken game is stressful to the very end, isn't it? Love the pink!
ReplyDeleteYour Hitchhiker looks fantastic even if it is a little shorter than you'd hoped. I'm ashamed to say that although I've knit a gazillion Hitchhikers, I've never blocked a single one of them.
