Snowmageddon 2018

Nothing kicks your winter holiday blues in the behind better than a little snow.

That monster snowstorm down south was not supposed to come our way but we unexpectedly got a dusting late yesterday afternoon.

It was just enough to make me put the tree up. I even added some tinsel even though I swore last year it would be my last for the messy stuff. It's just not a tree without it. I can still hear my mom telling us not to clump it. She'd lay it out strand by strand and I thought it was glorious. Now let's see if I feel that way in the morning when I have to vacuum.

  1. Such a beautiful tree. I love tinsel on a tree too. We’ll see how I feel after the two cats are done with it. We put our tree up yesterday too. I hadn’t planned to, but I gave in because it just didn’t seem the same without a tree. Blessings, Betsy

  2. Tell your kitties not to eat. If they do it may kill them if it gets encased in the intestines.

    1. Pup too. I am very careful to keep it up off the floor. Luckily for me my feral kitties are not playful. They are not in the least bit interested in the tree or any of the doo dads I have sitting around.

  3. Pretty lights and tree. I can't believe you got some of the snow! I don't think any of our relatives in the VA Beach area did - just those out in the country and in Richmond. It looks pretty.

  4. We have tinsel, too, even though it is messy, it makes the tree glitter and glow!

  5. Ah tinsel... I haven't used it in years! And my Mom was always particular about how it went on too!

  7. Oh Im delighted to see your tree up and shining in all its glory. Ours is up too. For Zach's tiny apartment we brought him tiny battery blinking lights for one of his plants. Just that touch sure made it look festive.

  8. Your tree is beautiful! Our 'light dusting' ended up being 7+ inches and over a foot just a few miles south of us. Can't complain though - it was the perfect weather to motivate me to finish up the Christmas knitting.

  9. Tinsel looks fantastic on a tree but I am developing an aversion to it in other parts of the house - those little sparkly bits end up all over the place!
Perhaps its time I crocheted some Christmas bunting as a tinsel substitute and see how that looks instead. If I start now, it should be done by next Christmas! Have a happy holiday time. xx
