Chicken

Now that I am getting close to wrapping up this pullover I can see that I will most likely have plenty of yarn to finish it up. Now I wish I had added an inch or two at the bottom. It's going to be awfully short. I guess that's what I get for being a chicken when it comes to playing yarn chicken. Better safe than sorry I guess.

That's not the only game of chicken I am playing. I finished the Dresden.

It's entirely hand quilted. I am amazed I stuck it out. It was a lot of work. Especially those petals on the plates. Getting a tiny hand quilting needle through all those layers was a bear.

This is the chicken part. Now I have to do the binding and I only have this much of the material I want to use. I'm thinking it might be enough. We'll soon see.

This is the biggest game of chicken I've played in a while. I was terrified to machine quilt this after my last disaster but I think it turned out just fine. I only had to pick out one small corner that got tucked in by mistake on the back. Now it has to be bound too. Off to work.

  1. Isn’t that just the way? Plenty of yarn left and a shorter than desired sweater. I probably would have done the same thing. I like all of your quilting projects. You have a LOT more patience than I do.

  2. Nice to see you have some great results for all your hand labor! The sweater will hang lower in the front and back under the cables and when you block it, it will relax, too. It will be great over a tucked in t-shirt!

  4. Could you intersperse some black fabric with the colorful one for the binding?

Your sweater turned out beautifully and just in time for a swath of cold weather.

  5. Nice job! I think you'll have enough fabric for the binding. If it's a lap-sized quilt, you'll need 7-8 (2.5") strips.

  6. Oh, what a beautiful sweater - and it is not even complete! The dresden quilt is just wonderful - hand quilted - WOW. From the looks of your fabric, you have a good chance of having enough for binding for the size I perceive the quilt to be in the photo. The baby quilt is very pretty and should be a favorite gift.
