Finally

There you have it ladies and gentleman, the last loaf of Honeycrisp soap. The saga is over. I actually have two more loaves and they are both keepers so I am done, done, done.

Of course when I ordered this apple fragrance I noticed this pumpkin one. I love the smell of oud and had high hopes for it.

I don't really smell any oud which is very dark and woody but I do smell pumpkin. A nutty pumpkin spice. Nutty pumpkin spice with a slice of pumpkin pie to be exact. It's a complicated fragrance.

It's not terrible. I like it. I like it so much I made a whole lot of it and I'm not sure what I am going to do with it all but I'm sure I'll think of something. It's also full of pumpkin and red palm oil so there's that to make it even more interesting.

My drying racks are groaning with all this soap. Most of them are big bars.

I have two racks on top of two big bookcases to keep the kitties away. The soap room smells like heaven at the moment. It smells like fall.

What's really got me going at the moment though is this sliver. I was tossing out leftover soap the other day and I found a small piece of a very old loaf. It was a white rose fragrance that I didn't like but I remember DIL raved about. I didn't keep any for myself so I had no idea until now what was so special about it until I tried it last week. It is AMAZING. I am so in love with this simple soap that I had to go digging through all my recipe cards to find out what I did with this one to make it so lovely. The answer.......heavy cream. No fancy oils. No fancy butters. I had just subbed a quarter of the water out of a very basic recipe for regular old whipping cream. Now I can't wait to make some winter soap. I see a lot of snowy bars in my future-and maybe yours too.

  2. Incredible soap factory! The cream bar has to feel wonderful on your skin-milk and soap has gone together for centuries for a reason!

  4. Your soaps are just beautiful and I would probably curl up in your soap room to read my book. The fragrance must be awesome - particularly when it is so hot and humid outside. We get a hint of cooler weather and lower humidity tomorrow and Friday. Cannot wait for fall.

  6. Wow! Just look at all of that soap! You have been one busy bee. The soap with heavy cream sounds fabulous. I am imagining Oil of Olay in soap form!
