Back to the Cutting Board

Remember those blocks I was afraid to try to piece together?

Silly me. They were a breeze. Every single one went together like a dream.

I was chain piecing like a pro. Angela Walters would have been proud.

Ta dah....all done with no drama. Unheard of around here but.....

...when I went to sew the sashing on something was nagging at me.

 Something just wasn't feeling right.

Then it hit me. Now that I could see it come together, the thing is HUGE. My stand only holds a 12 inch mini. What on earth?

Oh, yeah. I didn't look at the details when I bought the quilt I saw the word Mini and thought it was all good.

It wasn't. After a bit of a temper tantrum I realized that I needed a matching table runner for the buffet anyway so these blocks would not go to waste. I did some figuring and decided to try a trial run of a smaller version. I took a quarter inch off of all the pieces to see what would happen.

It's a bit smaller. The new model block is 6 inches without the sashing which I can cut down to a tiny fraction. It might work. We shall see.

  1. You can do it. I know you can! A matching table runner will be just perfect. Those blocks are gorgeous.

  3. Ack! Details like that can be frustrating when you realize you are the one that missed it!!!!
You can make it work-use this one on the table and buy another kit to reconfigure smaller for the mini stand!
