Dirty Nora

Remember Nora the Shetland fleece that was so full of hay? Here she is after a scouring and a dye bath.

I gave her a spin on the drum carder to help pull out all those bits of dried plant stuff stuck in her wool. She must have liked a good roll in the hay. Naughty girl.

Before you card it you have to tease it all apart. Lots of the stuff falls out then. It falls out all over you. Thank goodness it was a windy day. That always helps but I still needed a shower when I was done. I was really itchy.

I made it through three pretty batts before it got too hot to work outside anymore. Yes, I said hot. On Saturday it was blistering and I was wishing for winter. Now it's back to cold and I am missing the heat. You just can't make me happy when it comes to the weather.

  2. Nora sure cleaned up nicely and at least you were able to get it all done outside. The weather has turned freezing cold here after that weekend storm that nearly blew us away! I can't do much outside till this darn wind calms down.

  4. The weather has been so odd lately - Saturday I was outside blowing bubbles for my grandchildren and then Sunday I felt like I had to huddle under a blanket again!
I can't wait to see what Nora turns into! Such a soft blue!

  7. That turned out so pretty! Love the color. Still on the weather seesaw here and we go from 80+ to freeze warnings. At least, the winds and rain have gotten rid of some of the pollen.

  9. What a beautiful colour!
Also wanted to let you know my soap and lip balm arrived yesterday! It took the speedy route to Canada!
Love it all - thank you again so much! My daughters were watching as I opened it and I only narrowly escaped with my goodies!! The card was also a big hit - I have to go buy that stamp set now!! You are an amazingly talented and generous soul - thanks for spreading some good will in this world of ours!

  10. Nora is just lovely. You have a knack for packaging too!! Your color is perfect for the wool.
The snow here is compacting and melting. More expected tomorrow. I just went out to fill the bird feeder and I swear it felt warm. The sunshine is gorgeous. But we really want the snow to stop!!!
