Sugar and Spice

I have had these done for a while now, but was keeping them hidden so the Mama-to Be wouldn't see them. Her shower is today so here are the girl versions of Christine's Stay On Booties and the Easy Peasy Newborn Sock Hat.

The same Little Miss-to-be will also be receiving a sweet little quilt that Daddio and I put together in a bit of a rush.  I have to confess that I really struggled with the border. I had the big idea to make a cute little scalloped edging but it is much easier said than done.

All those miles and miles of the bias cut binding wanted to twist and bunch so I certainly had my work cut out for me getting it sewn down.

We used a very simple disappearing nine patch block that I found on You Tube along with a tutorial on the scalloped border. I can't tell you how much I love those Missouri Star Quilt Company videos.

I also have to give credit to Connecting Threads for putting together amazing fabric collections for color challenged individuals such as myself. This is Hello Sunshine and here is the blurb from the website:

Hello Sunshine was the winner of our popular fabric design contest that was held last August. Virginia Odien's designs are a playful and whimsical mix of cheerful birds, windblown dots, tablecloth checkers, and flowers.

In other words, a quaint little collection perfect for teddy bear tea parties under the trees.

  1. Love the little booties and sock hat! So cute! That's going to be one lucky little baby girl with all those lovely hand made gifts.

  2. What beautiful gifts for the baby! I love hand made gift. All that time and positive energy put into it.

  3. They are both absolutely cute. But I think I like the qult more. It just screams little girl. Good job on the curved edges!

  4. OOOh, I just found your blog post. Your quilt is lovely! I hope the new baby is still using the quilt. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to know the fabric I designed is in use!

    1. The material was adorable-one of my all time favorites. I am happy to say the baby-soon to be toddler-is still using it!
