This is a Thing?

I thought I knew everything about Chesapeake Bay culture until I saw this in the Bay Weekly. Apparently it's been a tradition in Annapolis to build a community bonfire on St Patrick's Day weekend to burn your winter socks as a part of a spring ritual.

They'd have to pry them off my dead, cold feet first......

  2. Ha! I don't think Mandy knew about that either. :-). I work to hard on my socks to burn them. I would go to the dollar store and buy a cheap pair to burn. Would that count?

  6. No way would I burn knitted socks. I have only made three pair in my knitting lifetime and I might just throw someone in the fire if they tried to burn them.
