Whatever it Takes

I tried to go out the other day in this terrible cold wearing my usual get up and it didn't work so well. I couldn't breathe in that frigid air and I thought my nose was going to fall off. I've found that piling on all of my knitted stuff makes a big difference. Jumbo scarf got a reprieve from the scissors because it was perfect for wrapping up around my face and neck. My old cloth face masks work well too. I also have nice things to say about my unloved Musselburgh hat. I never wear it but I have to say those two layers make it pretty darn warm. I even had to put some woolly mitts under my Lopi mittens to keep my hands warm along with two pair of handspun socks.

And why am I out in this ridiculous weather? That's why. If we don't get her out she's terrible all day and I can't get anything done. She's got a fleece pair of pj's on under the Sherpa lined coat she hates. It's never too cold for her.

Back at home, needing a stress relief project, I cast on some new socks. You better believe I re-wound and examined every inch of that Felici before I cast them on after the knot debacle with the hat yarn. Never again Knit Picks. Never again.

  1. You have to know that I literally laughed out loud and giggled with your cold weather get-up. I went to the over 55 place that we lived at for a few months to crochet this afternoon. It was -5F BEFORE wind chill was factored in. I had my Portage sweater on and flip-flops. They all just about had a fit. :-) Since they started weaning me off of the one med, I am starting to feel a little chilly sometimes though so maybe I'll be normal, whatever normal is, before long.
Love those socks and I sure hope they work out better than the last yarn.
I got the soap late this afternoon. Oh my! I got my two favorites. I've already started using the vanilla bar. Yummy! Thank you so very much my friend.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  3. We knit, weave, and make things for a reason, and one of them is to stay warm! I have had to start wearing two pairs of socks as my feet are freezing no matter what I do. I'm glad this Knotpicks yarn is better than the last batch.

  4. I am not a Musselburgh fan either (maybe it is more of a guy's hat?) but that scarf shaw is amazing!!! OUr late beloved dog Pilot had that same jacket--he loved it and look adorable in it, just like Pup.

  6. That is definitely one thing I liked about wearing a mask - they were handy to keep you warm!
Your big colouful scarf is absolutely stunning! maybe you just need to move somewhere cold where it's more useful on a regular basis?
